STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT OF WINTER TOURISM - THE POSSIBILITY OF USE OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENOGASTRONOMY IN RURAL AREAS

Abstract

This paper presents the touristic opportunities in the city Trebinje, which is geographically located in the hinterland of Herceg Novi and Dubrovnik, with an emphasis on realistically possible development and investment in winter tourism, due to the fact that plateau Ubla which is located at the foot of the mountains Štirovnik and Orijen with an altitude close to two thousand meters is near the Trebinje, and the fact that these fields are in the lee of the influence of southern winds, and the mountain climate creates conditions for tourism throughout the year. Also it is pointed on existence of natural resources in and around the city (a lot of smaller hotels in Trebinje, existence of the road network from the Austro-Hungarian period which is leading to the proposed winter tourism destinations, developed grape growing and wine production, hunting, fishing, appropriate food selling offer in the city which is able to absorb demands of a many tourists),  proximity of attractive touristic centers (naturally small distance between Mediterranean and continental climate which collide exact in this area, a major crossroads and etc.) which presents a good basis for further upgrading and strategically development of winter tourism.
