ROLE OF THE DEFENSE SYSTEM OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA IN ACHIEVING CRISIS MANAGEMENT GOALS

Abstract

Defence system of the Republic of Macedonia since independence to the present, is corrected by the challenge of redefining its role in accordance with the declared aim to meet European standards. The strategic goal of this priority national process is a sooner membership in NATO and the European Union. Democratic governance and the rule of law are rapidly implemented in all aspects of defence systems, and a criterion of its development. Defence system plays a special role in achieving the goals of crisis management in our country and to the strategic, operational and tactical levels. The author specifically analyzes the institutional framework of crisis management, and in this context the role of the Ministry of Defence, the normative framework in terms of defining the jurisdiction of entities in crisis management and current aspects of their functioning. A special place in this text is the cooperation between the competent authorities of the Republic of Macedonia in the field of crisis management, with particular emphasis on the participation of academic and scientific communities.
